Original oil on canvas, signed. Painted 1919 to 1920. The canvas measures 17 by 22 inches and the visible area inside the frame measures 16.5 by 21 inches, because the frame covers roughly a quarter inch on each edge. Entry No. 277 in the artist’s own handwritten index of oil paintings reads "Mother & Child, 1919-20, 17 x 22", which matches the inscription on the verso of this canvas. The index is held in Box 1, folder 8, George Constant papers, Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution. Sold only by Shaw Hill. It is not listed anywhere else.
